Rustic Tractor Seat Bar Stools

My dad wanted to give us a house warming present, so he came up with this idea for some rustic tractor seat bar stools. He had all the supplies on hand: old tire rims, thick mesquite ...»
trunks, tractor seats and a few bolts. It's a really simple design but I think they look great! They won't live at my island forever, I plan to use them outside on the patio since its made from outdoor-friendly materials. Plus, it's all recycled! I think it's a great way to use what was headed for landfill and make into something useful and appealing all at the same time.

Vintage Bicycle Basket Planter Take 2

Last year I planted flowers in the basket of my sister's vintage Schwinn and it was one of my most popular posts. I decided to do the same thing this year with a few changes - different flowers and a "fun banner".

  • How beautiful is this finished Pallet wood coverd coffee table.
  • Had this scratched up coffee table for years...Yes, I have a big dog. It needed a fix , and fast.
  • Here's what it looks like after a heavy sanding. Almost there, but not quite yet.
  • The old weathered pallet wood is almost the same color as my sanded down table top.....only prettier.
  • I used a brad gun with 2 inch nails to attach all my wood strips.
  • I mixed a couple colors of craft paint with some water.
  • I used my washed down craft paint to make all my freshly cut edges to look weathered...but not new.
  • I love how all the holes from the pallet nails line up on the new table.

Updating an Old Coffee Table With Pallet Wood

If I could throw things away, this project never would have happened. I had the very weathered coffee table with deep nasty scratches. I sanded it down as far as I could, but it was still ...»
too weathered. I had a pile of weathered pallet wood that fit the top of my table almost perfectly. I attached the wood with brads and hid my freshly cut edges with watered down craft paint.

Much better now...it looks "intentionally" weathered

Rust Restoration

I picked this rusty fire pit out of the bowels of trash hell! I wanted to use it outdoors as a hanging light or fill it with sedum as a vertical garden. But in order for it to not ...»
eventually disintegrate, I had to do some restoration.

You can do this with anything rusty that you want to be able to use but not have it continue to rust. This process is sooo simple! See the pictures for explanation and then get to it! I can NOT decide if I still want to use it outdoors or if I want to use it inside as my kitchen light! If I transform it further, I'll let you know

  • Make staples in different sizes
  • Double-over the edges while you put the staples in place. Be sure to push them into the ground as flat as possible
  • Start by only doing the outside edges
  • Overlap the joining sections, then connect them with staples, going along with the seam
  • Here's my end product. The staples can be easily removed and reused next year
  • Just add plants :)
