I love using everyday materials in fresh new ways... prettifying patio umbrellas is one of them! These feminine and flouncy toppers sit over a refreshment table at one of my Spring market
events, and I could have sold them a hundred times over!! They'd be perfect for a baby or bridal shower, too.
It's easy to transform plain umbrellas this way - click through to my HOMEWARDfound blog post for more info PLUS the link to order your own copy of Creating Vintage Charm Magazine (a print publication) May 2013, where my umbrellas are featured! #SummerStyle#MayProjects
Last year, I turned a birdbath into a flower planter and filled it with 3 types of sedum. I wasn't sure how it would fare, thru summer or winter. But, during the summer it flourished, and
it fared well over the winter as well. I let the leaves and pinestraw that fell, stay and be a mulch/cover for it during the cold months. And this spring, its quite beautiful, even though one particular type has overtaken the others for now lol. (although the one that grows like a vine I had to trim back b/c it looked quite rough after the winter, even tho it was still living)...there are even pieces that fell to the ground and are growning! :)
Here is an easy project to add a rustic accent to a mantel, frame, table top or Christmas tree during the holidays. I like to make a garland using sections of birch branches in varying thicknesses and shades of bark.
I had this wreath from last year and I've updated it for various seasons. I wanted a wreath that could last through the next few patriotic holidays. I took my wreath and added some cupcake liners that I bought on clearance after last year's Fourth of July festivities.
