May Day Baskets ......

May Day is right around the corner....and we have always enjoyed making May Day Baskets / Posies / Bouquets and leaving them as a surprise for people. ...»

The original way to leave a May Day basket is to hang it on someone's door, ring the doorbell or knock, and then run away. But, we like to do it a little differently. May Day is always May 1st....so, late at night on April 30th we go around and deliver our May Day Baskets. We hang them on people's doors....so they will be there when they wake up and greet them first thing in the morning.

Home Maintenance & Repairs: How do I get rid of wallpaper adhesive residue??

We recently moved into an older home and the first thing to go was the wallpaper in the living/dining room. The kids and I got it off pretty quickly with water...Now there is the sticky gluey residue! I really want to paint this room and get it put together, but I don't know how to clean the walls!

I tried TSP on a couple walls, but didn't like how that worked, so I bought some M-1 Wallpaper remover and that's not working either. Both were great for ...»

removing any bits of wallpaper that were left, but neither work on the glue.

Got any miracle cleaners I can try?!

come HERE before I did it! :)

I'm going away for the weekend, but those walls will still be here when I get back. :( I'm so glad this is the only room in the house that had wallpaper, but I am NOT looking forward to this!!! We got the paper off before our furniture arrived, but now the room is full of furniture...what a mess it's going to be!

Acorn, maybe we SHOULD have a party!

I'll let you know how it turns out.

My Outdoor Door

I just "planted" a door in our backyard flower bed. I bought this door a while back at the Habitat Re-Store for $1.00! You can't tell in the picture, but its leaning forward - I'll probably have to fix that. :) I'm excited to decorate it and "plant" an old bike in front of it. Can't wait to finish making the garden our own - instead of the previous owner's.

Card Catalog-looking Jewelry Box - Ikea Moppe Hack

I've had the bigger version of the Ikea Moppe drawers on my dresser for ages. I used to use them for pens and pencils and scissors and such. Now I use them to hold my jewelry.

You see where this is going, yes?

My Moppe drawers stayed plain for years. I gave them a quick coat of chalk paint last year just to perk them up. But I've never been totally happy with them.

Until now. ...»

Using layers of distressed paint, I made my drawers into a chippy industrial-esque, card catalog-looking jewelry box!
