French Inspired Vintage Pillow (with Free Graphic) and Book Bundle

I love anything French but I especially love it if it has a vintage feel! So I superimposed a vintage image of the Eiffel Tower on a page from a French dictionary from the 1800s to star ...»
in my latest pillow. I used my favorite fabric combination...linen and burlap...to give it added texture. A complete tutorial, including the free graphic, some great tips and instructions for making a book bundle, can be found on my blog.

  • I found these beautiful hydrangeas at Costco for $8.00. At the checkout the lady told me to make sure I put them in ice cold water. This intrigued me because I always thought that warm water was best for flowers. 6
  • First I cut the off the ends of the stems, making sure the cut was on a slant. Hydrangea stems are quite tough, so they need to be poked with something sharp to help with the water up-take. 2
  • I did a little research to find more tips on how to care for them and was rewarded with beautiful fluffy flowers that lasted for days and days!

How to care for freshly cut hydrangeas! Come learn some surprising little tips!

When I bought these hydrangeas they were packaged up in floral cellophane so tightly that they sure didn't look very impressive. I was a bit hesitant to take them, but since they were so ...»

Gardening: I received a bay leaf plant in a 4 inch pot and I replanted in a large 5 gallon pot.

Do I leave my bay leaf plant in the large pot outside, bring inside, or plant outside?

Anne planted her "cute little bay plant" as a 5 inch plant about 25 years ago. It is now ...»
almost as tall as her 3-story house. It is planted at the northeast corner and is protected from winds. I planted it in late spring and have it in an area that has gravel for a parking pad. It survived; the one in the greenhouse did not!

reconsider the pot size. Transplanting from a 4" pot to a 5 gallon pot your tree will spend most of it's time building a root system without much growth above ground. I like to transplant up one or two pot sizes to encourage root and top growth. It also gives you the opportunity to prune as it grows. Are you planning on planting it outdoors at some point? Good luck with your little plant. Here's hoping she grows into a productive tree for many years to come. Bay leaf is so good to cook with. Happy New Year

Gardening: I was given some lemon and orange trees that are in pots.

I have not planted them in the ground since I don't know if they would survive the winter. Anyone had luck with them in the Raleigh area?
