  • Found on the side of the road. Cut out vertical spindles and added magnetic chalkboard.
  • Another roadside salvage. (Just throw your old unwanted bed in the bushes??)
  • I also have a thing for repurposing game pieces and vintage croquet sets.
  • These were made to last. Not an easy process to take off steel framing. Needed realigning, trimming, sanding--- lots of remodeling! Trigger was that the decal is still legible.
  • This one was easier only because of the grunt-work experience I had with the Flexible Flyer first.
  • Came from an old farmhouse and was stored in the dusty barn for decades. I think it was a lid for a bench, as there were dowels on the ends (as if it flipped open).
  • A gentle slow cleaning and varnishing process, plus beveling uneven edges to match.
  • Crazy clock and drawer-front sits on studio wall.
  • Top part was obviously the steering mechanism of the former sled. Croquet mallet = column + vintage game piece as finial.
  • Holes that housed the sled's steering rope now hold the screws for wall-mount. Just meant to be.

DYI: Hooked on Hooks

It's about visualizing. A sled, a bed headboard, an old drawer ...

What else could this be? Can I remodel it and add hooks? Can I figure out a way to mount ...»

it safely on a wall ? If there's a will ---and you have the right tools, then there's a way. We all need to hang stuff, right? It's just how we choose to do it that separates us.

Gardening: How do I save my Bleeding Heart?

I'm in Minnesota and my Bleeding Heart (which was just planted this spring) is really struggling. I've adjusted the amount I've watered, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I have clay soil and it's in all sun. Should I do something different?

like that about mid July every year. But comes back bigger each spring. You can trim back the stems.
