About Me:

Well, obviously I play music! And I live on a farm so I'm interested in making it prettier now that I will be retired in 12 days!

Favorite area of home improvement:

building a pole barn, a pergola, a gazebo

  • The kitchen backs onto park property so privacy isn't an issue. And I prefer the sun to stream right on it anyway. 4
  • The shades were lined with another fabric (via hot glue) so they weren't too transparent. Gotta appreciate those ready made graphics. :)
  • Junky trinkets were added as faux pulls just for fun.
  • Love how the shades add some warmth without taking over the sunlight nor view. Let's face it... long curtains would get splashed on here anyway.
  • Here's a shot of how the fabric was glued together, then glued to the rod. These are 'dummy' panels so they didn't have to actually work.

Make your own coffee sack shades - fast and easy!

I'm one that prefers untraditional window treatments, hence, the coffee sack shades were born!

I simply cut a closet dowel to size, installed it inside the window frame, hot glued the ...»

sack onto the rod and called it done. Very quirky, rustic and so easy to do.

Wall of built Ins out of IKEA Hemnes cabinets

When renovating my basement I knew I wanted a wall of built ins. Keeping my budget in mind I created that feature using IKEA bookshelves from the Hemnes line. The bookshelves were spaced ...»
out to cover the entire 17 foot wall, then finished off with trim and soffits. The space where the wall mounted tv will be hung was finished with a board and batten pattern to match the rest of the room. Visit www.no29design.com for more details, pictures and ideas!

  • The fridge was once to the right of the cupboards, which stuck out into the dining area..We moved the fridge to the left and shoved the cabinets down to the right...makes it much roomier and brings the fridge closer to the cooking area. 4

I absolutely love this makeover. What is your countertop and backsplash made of?

Patio table "lazy susan'

I purchased a large plastic light cover from a garage sale and covered it with glass beads and grout. It had a center hole in the middle perfect for a patio umbrella for my table and I ...»
placed it on an old lazy susan roller. It works perfect for picnics or to have the glow of candles in the eve. She is over 5 years old now, could use a fresh coat of grout, but she still shines in this hot Florida weather.
