Home Maintenance & Repairs: Constant dust in the house, and I know it is comeing from forced hot air vent and the AC. How would one go about trying

to get rid of it and a financial leash? I do change the filter's regulary, but would it be worth attempting to save the money to have duct work properly cleaned out? Or should I just ...»
always carry a dust rag and wipe things down a couple times a week, which doesn't really bother me either?

Something I forgot to mention is that dust is 70% dead skin cells. If you have a pet then you ...»
    will be adding to that.

If you are looking for drafts just get a stick of incense, light it then move around your house testing outlets, light switches, windows and doors.

  • This basement office now has a beautiful view of a small waterfall. Open the window to enjoy the sound! 3
  • Creative use of rock provides inspiring scenery. 1
  • Isn't this view much better than the ordinary corrugated piece of metal you typically see out a basement window?
  • A mix of plants and rock was used to provide a fantastic view.
  • Cleaning the windows becomes more enjoyable, too. No more stooping into a spider-ridden window well.

  • We asked a friend to build us a dog house....a few days later he had this idea. He already had these old cabinets.
  • They cut out 2 holes for doors. The original cabinet doors still open, for easy cleaning. Put on a latch and a roof. We already had paint...so it just needs to be painted. TOTAL COST LESS THAN $20.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1

Dog Bed

After many years of having dogs and contending with the yellow spots in the yard I came up with this idea to make it a little nicer to look at. I first timbered off an area off the back ...»
porch. Filled it with mulch and put in concrete pavers for the walkway. Then started planting shrubs and flowers inside the timbers and around the border of it. Made sure they were far enough away from the dogs MAIN area of use. Also put in a concrete fire hydrant for the male dog! Works great, no yellow spots. In the fall we also mulch leaves to put on top then wood mulch on that. Someone told me they decay of leaves helps to keep the smell down, it does work. Also I use the bed for starting shrub cuttings. Everything thrives in the soil. Maybe this will help others with the yellow spot problem. Have not put a roof on the back porch yet, thus the umbrella for the dogs.

The fire hydrant is a nice idea but it is not really addressing the issue. Your dog's urine ...»
is killing the lawn because it is not a good diet for your dog thus the dog is urinating toxins which make the lawn turn yellow. Check with your vet for recommendations on food for your dog. General rule of thumb is that if it is sold in a grocery store for humans then is is probably a poor quality food. Check for a vendor who will deliver with a minimum purchase.
