After seeing countless photos of these systems on Pinterest and in the blogosphere, we finally got around to making our own composting system from pallets this weekend. It's really quick and easy - here's how we did it in less than an hour.

Yes Nancy they are. most railroad ties have been soaked and treated or coated with Kreeosote.
Not sure of spelling but its a black oil like tar with chemicals. check into it more.
Don't let grass grow beneath your trees. Grass competes fiercely for available water and will slow the growth of trees, especially newly planted ones. For instance, if the growth of a
tree is reduced by 20 percent for one year because of grass competition, the growth automatically is 20 percent less during the second year's growth. Grass competition alone reduces tree and shrub growth by as much as 50 percent.

Keep mulch even coverage from tree to drip line but not right up against the trunk of tree.
I spent about 6 months collecting old doors from friends and salvage yards and then mounted them on privacy fence frame. I also clear coated them so that they wouldn't weather wear. I
love that each door has it's own story and looking at it reminds me of all of my different friends who contributed.

No, it is not RATE MY SPACE but it is Home TALK and that's whats happening. It's generating
TALK, discussion about who likes it and who doesn't. Everyone is entitled to their opinion if your gonna put it on an open forum your setting yourself up for BOTH negative and positive input. Linda M., Cher D, Deb B, and Danielle C. you should understand it's not your fight. Leave those that have an honest opinion VOICE IT. And Susan P and Lorraine M. love your comments. Especially the comparison of the "toilet seats" lmao. That was great!!! Karen S. unless your the originator of "HOME TALK" please don't try to tell us all what this is for. Now everybody. Play nice!!!!
