Clipped to:

Remodeling: We have a large porch and want to make the front room larger.

We've deided it would be nice to add a new utility room and bath at the same time. So basically taking part of our porch (7x12 section), and make it into living space ...»

Doing this so we keep roof line the same, so no changes to the roof will be needed.

Looking for someone to assist in:

1. Moving a block exterior wall out 7 feet (would not need to replace with block, 2x6 exterior wall would be ok)

2. cut slab to add new plumbing (toliet, maybe shower, and sink/washer drain)

3. Pour new conceret to raise porch floor to same height as house.

4. Drywall work

Does any have any recommendations on a project like this?

Jacqueline, because in Florida, most houses are built on concrete slabs. For this reason it ...»
would depend on how the truss rafter system rests on the interior wall system. It is always best to have a licensed contractor look before removing or changing any existing walls in your home. Most modifications can be accomplished by two support posts and an approved laminate beam header will do the trick. Hope this helps, Sincerely, Rose (Florida Energy Home Products, LLC)
