I Turned a Tire into an Ottoman!

I can't stop smiling! Everytime I walk pass my sunroom I want to pat myself on the back. I've been wanting a round ottoman forever. So I got a tire and made one! Take a look at all the ...»

Decoupage Desk Project

This desk was black when I bought it for $35. It was too dark so I painted it white, then I painted it "Tortilla" by Martha Stewart Living. Never really liked it and was about to toss it. ...»
Giving it one more try, I painted it Old Ochre by Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and decoupaged the drawer fronts and part of the desktop. It's now my fave piece of furniture in the house. I realize decoupage furniture isn't for everyone, but hubby and I love it. See more of this project at my blog. #Bestof2012

  • So Creative!
  • Here's a close up now sitting in the dining room. Next I might hang it from the ceiling!
  • I use an old birdcage floor stand when I want the chandelier to sit on the floor. Shortened a floor lamp for the times I want it to sit on the mantle or table. Next I will hang it from the ceiling.
  • Find the tuna can. This was made with 600 wood balls {or beads,} old chandelier parts, old mirror parts, and a tuna can. No electrical wiring...just candles.

Wood Ball Chandelier

Can you find the tuna can?

I use one to make this chandelier. Find it here http://homastyle.com/wp/2012/03/13/pottery-b...

From Trash to Treasure!

My daughter-in-laws sister had thrown this in trash when she was moving! The frame was old and ugly! We reframed it to match the gazebo around the hot tub! It is a beautiful addition to our Garden Sanctuary!!!

Design & Décor: What furniture layout do you recommend for my screened-in porch?

We have a nice-sized screened-in porch, but I feel like the current furniture layout is not optimal. The challenge: there's an existing light fixture which we don't want to move, and it ...»
seems to make the most sense to have it hanging over the table. We have too many chairs, which I'd like to Craigslist and then purchase a loveseat {?} to place against the windows. I need more practical seating, because the chaise is awesome but not exactly conducive to conversation. The black console table is currently used as a bar/drink station when we entertain, so I'd like to keep that.

Any recommendations for me? Thank you so much!

The Porches on Lavender Hill

DIY Candlelabra

This project is so easy. Only takes one brass candle holder, some thrift store tea cups and saucers, some crystals or old jewelry and some strong glue and spray paint. Put it together and you've created a very pretty centerpiece.
