Repurposed Vintage Cabinet
I love it when people randomly drop off old pieces headed for the burn pile. This large cabinet was going to be destroyed when my mother-in-law saved it for me! It came from an old pantry and is most likely a flour or potato storage cabinet. It was large, and the paint was crackling, but the wood was solid. It took me a while to decide what to do with a cabinet of this size, but one day when I was cleaning my living room I realize I really needed a place to store all of my winter blankets. That's when I knew exactly what I would do with the huge cabinet.
To prep the cabinet it had to be vacuumed and wiped down. The edges were sanded, and one small crack was filled in with some wood glue to make sure that it would continue to hold.
Beautiful brass casters were added to the bottom of the cabinet. These will allow me to easily move the cabinet drawer, which is helpful considering how heavy the cabinet was before filling it with blankets!
The entire cabinet was given a coat of green milk paint and then finished off with a coat of white wax. Now it sits in my living room holding all of my blankets for the cool days to come!

What a great use for this. I'm going to add this to my to do list before winter hits. I used to have a dresser in the GP where we watch TV, but it's been moved to another room and I no longer have a place for blankets. Granted, with four long haired cats, it will more than likely become a cat bed, so I may have to put a lid on ours. I love the idea much better than a drawer though. Thanks so much for sharing!
