I have an oak headboard and need ideas for what to do with it, besides use it as a headboard. P.S. I don't want to make a bench...

    MAKE A CHALKBOARD??

What size is it? Is it a flat panel of wood, recessed panels, carved designs, spindles? I once converted a headboard (Twin) into a child gate to block a stairwell. It was a flat panel . I trimmed it to fit with room for hinges and latch. Since it opened into the hallway and not the stairs, I padded the backside and covered it with fabric. It didn't ding the wall when opened. If I had a larger headboard, I might have incorporated it into the railing of the loft. My sister converted a Jenny Lind crib into ceiling hung pot racks. (spindles were too far apart for today's safety standards to use it as a crib still.)

You can make signs or possibly a rack with hooks.

I'd love to help, but it's hard to come up with ideas for your particular headboard without seeing a picture of it. If you could post a photo you'll get a whole lot more ideas.
