Hi again! It’s Cait from Little City Farmhouse and I am popping in today to share with you a desk I recently refinished in the most beautiful shade of blue!

The first step in any project is to decide on a colour. This desk was a custom piece and the owner of it had an inspiration picture that we worked off of to create the exact colour she was hoping for! Here is how the desk began, with all of our paint ideas on it!

The perfect shade of blue was created by mixing 1 cup of Summer Blueberries with 3 tablespoons of Elegance. Using baking measurements makes the most sense in my head, but use whatever works for you! The most gorgeous slate blue was the result and this is definitely a colour I will be mixing up again!
To paint this desk with two coats, I only used what I had mixed up - 1 cup plus three tablespoons! And I had a bit of paint left over! The coverage of Country Chic’s paint is exceptional!
When the desk was dry, I sanded it smooth with 220 grit sandpaper, knocking the paint off the edges for a natural distressed look.
I then waxed the painted part of the desk with Antiquing Wax. I love the look of Antiquing Wax over darker colours - it really brings them to life and gives them a great depth.
The top of the desk was sanded down and stained. I gave it three coats of Tough Coat to ensure a hard durable finish. This desk is being used as a family command center, and Tough Coat is the perfect finish for a highly used desk top!
I absolutely love how this desk turned out! The colour is beautiful and rich, and so much fun to create!
