It took at least 3 tries to get this ceiling tile as I pictured it in my mind!
I worked in college at the local coffee shop in our mall (Emerson's Coffee & Tea Emporium) back shortly after it first opened. They are now celebrating their 20th year. Besides my shock of "holy crap where did 20 years go?!?!" - when I saw they were adding painted ceiling tiles to their decor, I KNEW I had to paint one. (Happily, they said "OK sure!")
In a nutshell here's the steps I did for this subway art tile: two coats of primer - apply letter stickers - realize the letter stickers peeled off the primer leaving shaggy letters - reprime - spray tile with clear sealer - reapply letters - overpaint with multiple, multiple coats with brown - peel off letters (yay - they came out clean!) - stencil coffee cup using white paint pen - seal with triple thick clear glaze spray.
