Opinions please, outdoor aviary or greenhouse?

I bought this huge bird cage to use as an outdoor aviary for my birds but they have their own room and the bird cage has a few holes here and there that needs to be patched anyway so I started thinking do I want to patch the holes or move it into the sunlight and cover it with plastic for a small but decent greenhouse. It us about 7x7 by 8 feet tall. What do I use to cover it with? I am in North Florida if that helps...

I would make this piece into a greenhouse. There is a plastic covering available to purchase from growers solution.

I think I have known in my heart it would be a greenhouse not long after I bought. Thanks... Joyce

I would move it to get some sum and grow Carolina jazzman vine and use it as a potting shed

If you're going to use as greenhouse in Florida keep it in the shade, it's like sauna in the sun.

Good advice but the plants need sun don't they?

@Joyce My greenhouse gets about four hours of direct morning sun in the winter and about six hours in the summer. I do put shade cloth on it in the summer so it doesn't get too hot. However, it still rose to about 110 degrees in there this summer which is too hot for most plants. I would suggest that it not be in direct sun for more than four to six hours...I don't think you get as hot in Florida as I do in Northern California but, still, you don't want young or tender plants to get fried. Put gravel on the floor to catch the watering drips and, with your natural humidity in the area, it should be OK. My greenhouse is covered in a green plastic fabric so it gets less sun rays...if you use clear plastic you will have to watch the amount of sun more than I do.

Me too and I bought this for a bird house when the owners of a macaw got a bigger cage.. I paid 250.00 for it including delivery and then we moved before I got a chance to do anything.. I think my parrots will just have to be happy in their Florida room.. Sorry your are jealous... Thanks, Joyce
