you can use lemon juice also, as it is also an acid.

I use vinegar for most of my cleaning and I've tried this for a slow drain, but what works better for me (slow drain-wise) is Coca Cola! I wouldn't drink this crap, certainly, but a quart of this had my VERY slow drain running great!
