Create A Gorgeous Purple And Black Rag Wreath Perfect For Halloween

Easy
I love decorating and making crafts for Halloween. But I only like non-scary things. I only decorate with items like pumpkins, black spiders and bats because I suppose they are real. Sometimes I’ll decorate using ghosts or witches but they have to be happy and friendly looking. Is there a hashtag for
I also love designing and making wreaths. I especially love making wreaths that are easy to make, made with easy to find materials and are not too expensive. Most of all I love when they create a gorgeous result. This rag wreath meets all of these requirements.

You will need an 18 inch wire frame to use as the base. I bought mine at Michaels. You will also need:

1 ½ yards (1.4 m) black cotton

1 ½ yards (1.4 m) black sheer fabric

1 yard (.9 m) 2 ½ inch (6.4 cm) wide purple ribbon

3 yards (2.74 m) 2 ½ in (6.4 cm) bat themed ribbon
To get started cut about 60 strips of both the black cotton and sheer fabric that are 11 x 2 inches.
Tie the black cotton strips around the outer ring so the open ends are pointing towards the outside. A single knot is all that is needed.
Loop the purple ribbon evenly around the inside of the wire frame and tie it where the two ends meet.
Tie the black sheer fabric strips evenly around the inside ring so the open ends are facing towards the inside of the circle. Again, you only have to use a single knot.
Now the final steps are to embellish your wreath. I cut out black bats from black cardstock paper and decorated them with purple glitter. I inserted two purple sparkly sprays at the top of the wreath. I lastly made a large bow from the bat themed ribbon.

Where do I display this wreath at Halloween? I figure not all wreaths have to hang on a door. I place this one on a bench in the kitchen where it is very visible and we can enjoy it everyday during the month of October.
