Desk With Geometric Design

For September's Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest, the sponsor was General Finishes and the theme was "GEOMETRIC".
I used General Finishes' new Gray Gel Stain, my Silhouette Designer Programme and some silver craft paint to come up with my entry...
This was the sad before. It had simple lines and was a great solid wood desk.
This is my final design, created on Silhouette Designer and used as a stencil on the drawer fronts.
Here's a closeup of the drawer fronts. The mercury glass pulls are from Hobby Lobby.
I love the pairing of the two gray tones. I'm glad that the wood grain still shows through on the top and drawer fronts.
I added a faux enamel tag that I made to make it a little less formal.
And here is the before and after to see just what a difference some elbow grease, some stain and some paint made.

I'm really kind of new to this, but I hope you won this contest, too! What a magnificent job you've done. The gray is so fabulous, it is one of my favorite colors for pieces like this. I mean, I love the color, but I've certainly never tried it before - but you have given me the courage to try. I won't be able to do the stencils, because i really know very little about using a computer. Any suggestions for what other way I can add an interesting geometric shape there? Again, I am so impressed!

@Patina Paradise See, you are really talented, you won the last contest! I was thinking of using a stencil, and using a great sponge I saw at Home Depot. i really do love that color, and I may have found a chandelier to color it with as well. So, here goes nothing...wish me luck! Thanks so much for your indispensable advice!
