Home Office Transformation

Last Spring I entered as a Linking Participant to the One Room Challenge. Some of you may have heard of it, but if not, Linda from Calling it Home hosts a challenge biannually, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Since the challenge is about to start again next week, and I plan to enter again as a Linking Participant, I thought it would be fun to share the room I made over last Spring. My home office was a mess. A terrible eyesore in my home that greeted not only me each day, but my guests, since it is located near the entrance of our home.
I couldn't stand the sight of it anymore, and since I had been brainstorming how to clean it up and make it more functional anyways, I decided to challenge myself to get it done in front of the world by entering the One Room Challenge. With plenty of ides floating around, choosing the right ones for our space took some time. Thankfully I had the entire six weeks to make up my mind!

Not only did it want it to function for the adults in the family, but I also wanted to create a space for my son to play, learn, and express himself artistically. With that in mind I set out to create a "kids corner" in the room. I could't be happier with how it turned out, and how much he enjoys it!

With a book collection overflowing, and not really being appreciated properly, I decided to fill our bookshelves with them, as well as find a fun and artistic way to display them. Notice the lanterns above the towers? Those hold quite a few valued pieces. Now that they aren't packed away, we are able to enjoy them again, and visually share them with family and friends. Come on over to my blog to read more about the transformation, how I found ways to create storage that looks like decor. I'd also love for you to check in on October 8th, to see what space I will be challenging myself to make over this go round! It's going to be good!!
