Tired of looking at those big white switch plates on your counter top and backsplash? You spent a lot of money upgrading your kitchen with beautiful granite and tile but now the first thing you see is big white switch plates. UGH! Well, you’re in luck because I’m going to show you how to disguise them.
Before
The first step is to prime with a spray Kilz primer. Make sure you cover the area around the plates with plastic so you don't get over spray on your counter.
Buy acrylic paint at your local art store that matches your granite. Use an artist brush and try and copy the pattern, then seal it with a clear polyurethane to protect it.
As you can see I followed the pattern around the granite.

Caution!!! DO NOT stick the paint brush in the socket.
Here, I used a 1/4" tape for the grout line and then color matched the tile.
As you can see or NOT SEE, the switch plate. It looks so much better than white plates lining your counter top.

Such a cool idea. It really disguises them. Would the paint not scratch off when you use them?

I've never seen a clear switch plate either, where did you find them??

I saw yesterday that someone suggested taking a photo of your counter top and inserting it under a clear switch plate. That seemed like a very good idea to me and I asked how this person would handle the white sockets. The original post about the photo and my question are not here. I'll try again. Thanks.
