Can someone identify this flower? I grew it from a mixed packet of seeds this summer I think it is very pretty and would like to get more seeds. Also is it an annual or a perennial?

You're right @Sonia, it does look like wild phlox. @Bonnie, does it have a trumpet like neck on the back of the flower? It's hard to see in the picture.

It looks like tall garden phlox (not to be confused with creeping phlox) I have some in S. Missouri that are perennials. You might try saving the seed if it goes to seed later this fall.

Sure looks like phlox to me w/a white zinnia behind it. Grows as a perennial in my southern garden.

There are some beautiful wild phlox also that look very similar. They should be a perennial too but will look a little "weedier" until they bloom.

Send one or bring one to your State's Extension Service. They will be able to identify any plant that grows within the state.

This looks like annual phlox to me. It is a beautiful annual. Try to save some seeds to plant for next spring.

we called them Johnny Jump Ups. i think these are aperrienal from the pholx family..If theyare very short like 3`4 inches.

hi more people answered phlox and I think annual phlox is the answer ! I know it is not johnny jump ups as I have lots of those jumpin' up everywhere!

Jonny jump ups are in the pansy-viola family. I go along with al phlox.

It reminds me of the annual Vinca flower that I usually buy at the nursery. They are good bloomers and continue to branch until they are quite showy. I always used them in front of the shrub row as an accent. They come in several colors. However they are usually a bigger, dark green leafed annual.
