Hanging Pulley Photo Display

I love a good DIY challenge so I was so excited to have another blogger send me some seemingly random items and then have the opportunity to transform it into something cool. When I saw the items I fell in love with the pulley! Nothing like that is in any of the thrift stores around here. And I'm so happy that I was able to make this awesome photo display with it.
I love how it is rustic and useful and just so unique too!
This is what I started with: A green plastic platter, a wooden thingy about the size of a place mat and this super awesome vintage pulley. This pulley. I am in love with it!

I began by gluing my wooden placemat to the platter.
I bought some sisal rope and threaded this through the pulley and then glued it to the back of my platter.

On the front of my platter I attached two of these really cute Clipboard Clips.
I just love how easy it was and how it turned out. The industrial touch is perfect for our sense of style. For a full list of supplies you can click the link below to visit Simply Designing.

How did you cut the 'wooden thingy' to cover the tray? Did you glue the wood thingy to the tray? Thanks! I love this and would like to make it for our cottage.
