Help in Christmas preparing

Alexscott
by Alexscott
Greetings everyone!
Halloween, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are coming and I decided prepare for them more carefully than previous years. So, firstly I started searching any information how to choose Christmas lights. After some time of my searching I found an interesting review here http://topchoice.best/main-review/best-christmas-lights with detail information and description. As they recommend, I decided to buy LED lights, because these lights are far more efficient than incandescent lights and have a much longer life-span.
But I haven't chosen yet which I want to buy for sure, it's hard to make a decision, especially for me, as I have never decorate with lights and know nothing about them. May be somebody can recommend good lights?
Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

LED lights are cost effective.I would choose the brightest lights you can find as I have found some brands are brighter than others.

I don't find them as bright or showy! My neighbor had some up and I thought why bother if that's all he got out of them. Sorry!

If you go with white LED lights, I think the warm white ones are nice. I find that the cool white LED lights are very harsh, especially if you're going for a simple charming look. The colored lights are beautiful also, the colors are pretty vibrant. Again, I think it depends on the brand.

I find the LED colors to be a little "off". I use regular incandescent strands of lights, and if put away carefully ( I want mine around paper towel tubes and tuck the ends inside the tube) they last quite well. I also put mine on a timer which I think has also extended their longevity. I buy the GE brand. I buy mine with a coupon or on sale after the holidays. Usually about $5 a strand. You also need to estimate the number and the length of the strands that you purchase based on the length of what you are trying to wrap the lights on. There is usually a limitation on how many light strands you can connect together. So assess your outdoor and indoor extension cord needs as well.

I agree about the drab, grayish-white of the LED lights. I use the small white lights and have not found the bills to be too high, though we do not have lots of them. We just put some on the tree and a few around the door. And my lights have lasted for years. The light looks more like candle light.

I HATE led lights. They remind me of the inside of a dingy bar. Or, at least what I've noticed walking by a dingy bar (lol). I noticed Jean from Bedford, PA mentioned the star lighter. I saw one this summer when we were camping. It looked great shining on the trees in the park. The one we saw was green and red. They come in different colors, at least I saw them in different colors on QVC. But I do like the red and green for Christmas. And, we may get one this year. With it, you need not actually put lights on the bushes or even on the house. Just set the light and the house is lit up. My question is, does the entire inside of the house have the lights shining from outside? It would mean the curtains would have to be closed and then the tree would not be seen from outside. So, things to think about.

I have been seeing informercials about a 'starlighter' - a small machine that covers lots of area with projected (light) stars. It looks fabulous with other lights or by itself. You'll have to stay up to catch the promos but it looks stunning. Good luck!

I think you could ask 10 people this question and you will get that many answers since it appears to be a matter of opinion.

LED's are not very bright. I was not impressed with them.

I much prefer incandescent lights. LED lights may be "colorful" but they seem to have a cold/dull quality about them. "Warm" LED lights are now being manufactured so you might look for those if LED is the route you want to go. I bought a set of battery-operated "warm" LED lights to decorate my daughter's Radio Flyer wagon for the zoo's Christmas event and my wife and I thought they were better than the LED lights the zoo used. I must admit, though, I only bought them because they were easy to find and I needed them quick since I decided we should decorate her wagon just a few hours before heading out to the zoo that evening, but if I'd been able to find battery-operated incandescent lights, I would've bought those instead.

finally they have brought out "bright white" really nice and bright and "bright" a pale blue tint, so much better than the dingy "yellowish" ones, check out wayfair.com found some great LED icicle lights there, don't know why they were marked down to $16 and change from $50 but they seem just fine
