#1---There is all types of edge trim out there, You might want to ask a granite store to save you a remnant and do the thicker slab granite. Take some cardboard and draw a template for the slab if you choose to do it That being said you can do as the installers did w/my slab granite---come out from the lazy susan cabinet about 2 3/4th inch in the corner and curve the corner-- either way the granite shop would need to polish the edge--same for the granite tile which you could then leave bare. I found that some stone is too beautiful to embellish further. My fav is St. Cecilia Classic granite. #2---By all means put something over your bed! Maybe something w/the same metal that is in your head board. Maybe something you love--I have a large picture of a black and white cat on a bed over my head board and it gives the room such a tranquil feeling. Good luck!

Definitely agree with the above answer about going to a stone place and looking at remnants! You may be able to get a whole slab for the cost of the tile (not to mention your time cutting etc. and installing). You could also consider a butcher block and that you your self to cut to fit. Absolutely, we have a set of windows above our bed or we would definitely have something hanging there! How about a mirror or a few of smaller mirrors?

Since this is a laundry room obviously you would not to spend a lot of money for a counter install. Many places carry discontinued pieces of counter types. As for the picture, yes most definitely just a word of advice make sure it is high enough over the head board. Personally I would select a bright color flower or abstract against your bedding.

Of course you can put a picture over the bed, it won't fall on your head. I would say something in a rectangle shape would be nice.

I think you should cut that corner of the board protruding out over your cabinet on an angle. That point is going to be painful when you drop something and your head on it. Not trying to be a Debbie downer, but safety is always a good idea, especially if you have children.

If this is a counter to fold on its too big to reach the back and the protruding corner is dangerous and doesn't let u reach the back. Have u considered painting it , then sponging a design to look like marble. Also a shelf beside the washer wall for baskets to put socks, underwear, tshirts, etc in. Then u can label for others and just tell them its there. This trains them to fetch their stuff. Works great.Good luck.

As for the picture over the bed; i agree with Marsha. A wicker type frame and picture that u find calls to u and pics up the bedroom colors would be real nice. Even if u paint the wicker frame gold like your quilt and bring in some blue and colors that make it pop, but that u like. Make it yours. Nice idea , make it yours; its your place of comfort.

I would use vinyl self stick tiles on laundry shelf. Cheap and durable. Just be sure to use a primer on the wood for good adhesion. Sand edge smooth, and paint in either matching or contrasting color. I did this with an old patio table.

Laundry - my preference is to raise the top of the counter to equal the height of the washer/dryer. That way, you will have a longer, continuous space to sort/fold laundry. Granite seems awfully expensive for a little corner in the laundry; if you kept to something more malleable like wood , you could create an insert along the back (using the space b/w lazy susan and new counter top) tuck in anything you want at hand, e.g. stain stick, found pocket change, phone, pen & notepaper, drier sheets, spray bottle. Bedroom - tho the photo does not show much of your room, it seems like you have a lot of open wall. Negative spaces wants to be broken up and made equally active as the things on your wall. A larger, horizontal image would be going in the right direction. Or, you could hang 2 curtain rods, 1 over the head in the corner where ceiling meets the wall behind your bed. Drape some fabric over this rod, and decide how far out you want your canopy to reach, and hang the other curtain rod, parallel to the first, at that point. Drape the end 'valence' of your fabric over this rod; adjust the 'dip' of fabric b/w the 2 rods to your liking, and voila - your new canopy, enhancing the romance of your bed design. Then, if you can put a screw into the wall & fabric at the right height to hang your picture! (Note: once you know where the fabric should hang over the rods, a seam width-wise will create a channel to put the rod through, keeping it all in place, whether tapestry or volumes of gauze. IKEA ith their 250cm panels is an inexpensive source).

after reading your post I see you will be cutting the corner from the counter top...good plan...and yes some tiles would be a good choice...of any sort...granite, floor tiles or even the pretty glass tiles....and as for a picture over the bed...I take it you don't live in an area with earth quakes....lol....growing up in S. Calif...nothing is ever over our bed...maybe painting that wall a slightly deeper shade of the color on the wall now...and some larger pictures over the night stands...

Since this will be more that temporary my first suggestion is to get some "backer board" cut to the same size as the plywood and stack them together using hard as nails adhesive, it will be sturdier and water resistant, wont warp and will last much longer. Then go to home depot or lowes web site and search for "chair rail" tile and adhere to the edge with the same hard as nails then tile the top and grout. It will look just like counter top.

I'm a NoGo on a single picture above the bed. Instead think about a grouping.

A grouping is nice but remember to use and odd number of pics

Laundry--Yes, cut the front edge off and use something that someone here suggested for trim. My concern is the sides near the washer and dryer. Make sure you put an edging up so things won't fall off the board and behind the dryer or washer. Do you have a shelf where you put the detergents? One of those walls would be a perfect place for one.

My choice was to hang a colorful antique quilt from the ceiling to below our cal. king bed.
