Rustic Pumpkin Vase for Halloween, Fall, Thanksgiving, or Autumn

This past week I received a complimentary Deluxe Fall Harvest bouquet from ProFlowers with gorgeous red and yellow roses, Peruvian lilies, bronze spider mums, cushion poms and dried wheat. The buds were closed when I received this bouquet so I knew I had some time to make a vase that would really make this bouquet stand out.
I wanted this vase to be BIG, so I used one of the biggest faux pumpkins I could find at the craft store. I also purchased some dried wheat to add to the bouquet.
I marked off where I wanted to cut the faux pumpkin and made sure the glass vase would be covered in case I decided to use the vase that came with the flowers. My plan was to either put the vase right in the pumpkin and then add the dried wheat under it, or use a completely different vase and add the dried wheat on top of the bouquet.

I couldn't just use the faux white pumpkin as is though. I had to give it the same finish I used on my Rustic Pumpkins with Deep Brown Americana Decor Creme Wax from Hobby Lobby because it's such an easy way to add some character and avoid cookie cutter decor. Like the Rustic Pumpkins I made for our rustic black pipe tv console, I brushed the creme wax on with a brush, then wiped off the excess with a rag. This is a super easy method and I promise anyone can do it!
I decided to use a bowl for the water inside the pumpkin vase because I wanted to add a little extra height with the dried wheat. Before I did anything though, I read the tip card that came with the flowers. For someone like me with a black thumb, these tips are a welcome reminder on the best way to care for fresh flowers. :)
The result of my rustic pumpkin flower vase is stunning! The colors of the Deluxe Fall Harvest bouquet from ProFlowers pop in our black and white kitchen!
