Can you turn a regular artificial tree into a upside down one?

I love the look of the upside down Christmas trees, I'd love to be able to get that look with my old artificial 7" tree. Has anyone done this before? I'd like to keep it in the stand on the floor, not hanging from the ceiling. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here's what they look like. so cool😎

I will never forget the upside down Christman tree in a Key West gift shop. They called it an underwater Christmas tree and decked it out with fish, shell and seahorse ornaments and trimmed it to look like it was part of a coral bed. Just stunning!

I did something similar to this. There are no pics yet as I've been down with a very bad sinus infection. I have cats and the large tree was being mauled to death by them.It was a lot of extra work to redecorate it every morning. I bought three wreaths of different sizes and placed them large, medium and small and hung them from the ceiling fan with Christmas ribbon. They were decorated with garland, small battery operated lights, ornaments and a star. IT WAS A HIT!

Brenda, that problem I see with using a standard upright tree and turning it upside down is the top of all the right side up trees I've seen are like a mini tree with no wooden or metal dowel in the middle on could put in the stand.

@Brenda, you'll still have the problem of the pointed top section not fitting at the bottom. You might like the look anyway. It's certainly worth trying if you have the time.

Many do it so they can get more packages under it. Read Jeremiah 10..the bible says it for us... if we would just read it :)

@Brenda The problem I think you would have even if you can figure out a stand for it would be with a standard fake tree being upside down is that the limbs would not stand out but rather just all hang down...... Does that make sense? You know when you put a fake tree up in the normal style the limbs fold down to open up, turn it upside down & they would just stay folded up next to the center trunk, not go out......... You could probably figure something out but it would take some work for sure! Good Luck!

I was starting to feel like this was a un-Christian thing to do. So I looked it up and this is what I found on the Upside down Christmas tree history. According to www.ChristianHistory.net, the upside down Christmas tree traces its history to Boniface, an English Benedictine monk who went to Germany to preach the Gospel. Legend has it that he used the triangular shape of the Fir tree to describe the Holy Trinity of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The converted people began to revere the Fir tree as God’s tree as they had previously revered the Oak. By the 12th century, it was being hung, upside down, from ceilings at Christmastime in Central Europe, as a symbol of Christianity.

@Brenda that's quite interesting. I like doing research like that on different traditions, but have never done so on the upside down Christmas tree.

I have seen several trees upside down in stores and one was hanging over a diningroom table from the ceiling. I have never seen one upside down in a stand only hanging from the ceiling without a stand and if you chandalier is high enough you could put one on it over the table. Also, if they still make them, at one time I saw them at michaels,a rotating thing on a chain(which requires a D size battery) that would make it go around at a slow rate. I used it for a grapevine circled tree and it turned out beautiful.

They do sell the upside trees and they are pricy. You can find them on line.

Yes, I've also looked. And they are rather pricey. That's why I like to transform my regular tree. I would use it as a second tree in the lower level, I need the real thing on the main level! Ha! I don't think it will work, but I'm going to give it a try. :)

Have you thought about getting a short piece of pipe or pvc to stuff the top of the tree into? You might have to remove some branches to make it sturdy enough to stand that way, the use those branches you removed to cover the pipe. Balancing it will be the hard part.

I've never seen one at all and I'm not being disrespectful to anyone but I really don't like it and to me it's like saying Merry Xmas instead of Merry Christmas..Again I mean no disrespect
