They cannot be moved to another room without busting up concrete floor which isn't an option. They dryer matches the washer.

    Create a counter on the top along with a dummy back splash that you can access the knobs to the dryer. Then you could create a curtain with a pattern of black and white to cover up the front of it. The extra counter space could be used and based upon the counter that you have existing. The back splash will be the trickiest part of the project.

    If nothing else I would think a counter top across the top of them both that sits out IN FRONT of the knobs of the dryer would at least give you a better look and more function. To do that you would need to provide support for the counter on either side of them both and then from there you could hang a curtain down from the edge of the counter top to cover the front of them or, even, build some large cabinet doors.

    My goal is to hide them completely. I will put a counter on top when I put the other dryer in but have no idea how to hide the front would like a cabinet but would stick out too far.

      @Robin S I've only lived in an older home for a few months when I was a child, but with the bowed front of the front loaders I can see, even in your photo with the older style dryer, that they most definitely pose a problem. The older home that I lived in had the laundry in the basement. It would have been much better in the kitchen. Though we didn't live there long, I do remember the kitchen being huge. There would have been plenty of room for them. It was a rental when we first moved to Omaha. Beautiful home, but not the best of neighborhoods, so we stayed only long enough to find another home.

      @Swan Road Designs We had the home for sale before and the only negative comments were the washer and dryer being in the kitchen and noticeable. We want to sell since reirement is upon usl We have a large house so its a shame they did not move them when they added a huge addition.

    I know this wouldn't necessarily "hide them" but maybe it could help blend them in...contact paper? You could find a cute pattern and just sprude it up so it wouldn't look so jarring between the "kitchen side" and the "laundry side", another alternative would be curtains or a partition!

    Make a panel with fake 'doors' matched to the other cabinets., that acts like the curtain concept to hide the fronts, then you just remove it while they are in use and put back after ? adding the counter sounds good, you would have to make a box to cover the top of the dryer tho. I would try a temp hider panel & top/box & just see how it feels before you make anything too permanent, you might find you actually prefer the machine fronts or just the counter ! I am from Europe where they are often in the kitchen so I am used to seeing that anyway.

    Build a folding table/storage countertop on top. Close to the top of your machines. Then install little 1/2 doors or curtains to hide/blend in. I would not go to ceiling though as it will obscure and block out and stand out more!

    I saw one with curtains over the counter, but because it sticks out into a doorway, I went with this one. The curtain idea might snag on something as you walk by... like the laundry basket.

      @Robin S Couldn't you make this with beadboard? It's not as thick as a regular cabinet would be. The appliances stick out already, so the idea above shouldn't look bad. I'm trying to prep my house for sale, too, so I understand what you're going through. Good luck!

    since your house is so large, could they be moved to a bathroom? Then you could add extra storage in your kitchen or a work area. Maybe?

    Great opportunity here in that you have a front loader for the washer. I'd recommend adding a counter surface to make the top more functional for kitchen prep, serving and/or folding clothes. a quick curtain or bi-fold shutters would work. Don't try to match to your countertops or cabinets, ok for this area to be a little different.

    Can you remove the above cabinets and put in a smaller stack unit? That would gain you a bit of space in the kitchen AND an easy cabinet could be then built in to hide the washer/dryer.

      @GrandmasHouseDIY Would give you a bit more counter space as well, if you just enclose the stacked unit...but doubling it would give you a nice size pantry. You have to get creative sometimes. :)

    Be careful with the curtain ones as it is close to the stove. Can you afford to lose the upper cabinets above the washer and dryer? If you can and then get a stacking kit for the set and turn the stacked washer and dry against the doorway wall. I have much the same kind of set and the width is shorter then the depth so possibly it could fit on that wall better without sticking out into the doorway. Then you can camouflage it with a standing screen ( room divider). Just a thought. Good Luck

    We have front loaders and built a 'u' shaped cabinet around the appliances leaving the backside open to the water/power connections and for ventilation. double doors on the front and we matched the hinges and cabinet hardware to the rest of the kitchen. Our one extravagance was the countertop, around $350.00. Its a nice place to put a few herb plants since it's right next to a window and still leave plenty of room for folding clothes as they come out of the dryer. The cabinet was painted the same color as the other cabinets in the kitchen. Lots cheaper than purchasing new appliances. It looks like your dryer has top controls so this might not be a workable option for you, ours has front controls.

    Unsure if your budget, you can be patient and wait for the right stackable dryer to come along at the right price and as others suggested build a cabinet around it as a " pantry". Or simply stack add a wall on the open side and make a door, curtain, barn door, to tuck away the washer and dryer. I'd do that and place them at the far wall across from the fridge and between the pantry and the fridge I'd add a counter next to the stove or have floor to ceiling shelves or one big shelf unit. I don't know what the rest of the kitchen looks like but counter space looks limited. In the mean time I'd be tempted to add a wall spacer between the stove and the dyer on the stove side I'd add metal flashing as a burn barrier and if magnetic to hold utensils or spices, but Ikea also has great kitchen organizations on that. The cabinets above the washer and dryer would be removed to accommodate the wall spacer and shelves would replace it. I would make use of the other side of the wall and I'd add a butcher block or some kind of counter to float mere inches above the washer and dyer anchored in as a shelf using the spacer wall and the wall with the paper towel holder. The counter will be higher because of the dryer but it is a landing spot for groceries and prep space you don't currently have. If possible have your hookups and electrical outlets shifts down, if not build your shelves around it and up..you can always use baskets, crates ect to hide detergent and other things you currently have stored in the cabinets above. Even if you didn't want to remove the cabinets the spacer wall could go just to the top of your hood vent. Easier though is to wait for the stackable dryer buy it and sell yours and it opens you up for more possibilities, even side by side you could still have a counter top you currently don't.

    They look new, so I would find one or two thick plastic trays to cover the tops and rejoice in having more counter space. One thing I use is a big block of tile flooring left over from a building. The bottom is padded and acts like a suction bottom; it's thick and extremely durable; it's easy to clean and sanitize. Mine is about 18" square or bigger, so it almost reaches the edge of the counter where I have it. Like having a nice big cutting board. About that bubble sticking out: I'd be dying to paint a face, stick on some heat resistant space decal, or just keep it shiny. If that machine is partially blocking the doorway, you should be able to swap positions with the other machine, but that will be a hassle. Live with it!

    Does your dryer have knobs on the back or front and is it the same height as your washer? If so, put a countertop covering both units with a hinge in the back so you can lift it up out of the way if needed. If you could have an electrician put the plug-ins farther into the wall so it is smooth, you could hang display shelves over the back to hide them. I bet you are finding the laundry in the kitchen is useful....mine is in a room just behind the kitchen and I love it.

    Put it in a cupboard. Surround with bi fold doors in front and add white erase paint to doors. Serves as note taker and cover up laundry area

    No doors because because the Fridge is right Across from it.. How about a Piece of 3/4 or 1/2 plywood sealed and then Tiled with Ceramic Tile, that would increase the Counter top area next to your Stove.. if you wanted to you could add a Fabric Skirt around it so you wouldn't see the Fronts or the one side.?? Who would put washer and Dryer in Kitchen anyways..? Hope this idea Helps...! !

    If you have no other place for them then it is what it is. Being an organizer I would say for the small space put things away. Don't have stuff sitting out. Keeping the clutter down makes things clean looking.. Can't see your whole kitchen but doesn't look like you have much room to do anything else. If you have a pretty runner you can put that down thru the room and decorate despite your challenges. Will put eyes elsewhere. Be creative with what you have:)

    I can not tell what is on the other side of the wall where ur fridge is or ur W/D but I might rip out part, or all of the wall by the fridge. It will give u more entry space. ALso if u r not totally attached to the washer ( I hated my front loader, they just roll clothes ,don't clean.) get a top loader. it will save inches. Then u can build a pantry type cabinet around ur appliances . Or remove top cabinets , get the stackable set. Then build ur cabinet around ur washer n dryer. U can add a pantry where the dryer is now.

    My washer & dryer are in the hallway just as you come in from the carport,my house is very rustic so I covered the set with wooden rustic box that has no back,slides against wall,doors open at top over washer & dryer for cooling & doors in front of dryer to open dryer doors,would never guess what's hidden!!!,

    My mother-in-law had a similar issue and she made "slipcovers" for them with remnant material and kept them covered when not in use. Our washer and dryer are in the garage and I would give anything to have them in the house.

    I would suggest you go with it aside from adding counter top as previously suggested. That way you have a insta folding table or extra space when cooking a large amount of food.

    My initial thought, "Why conceal them?" They're appliances just like your stove, refrigerator, etc. They're not unattractive. I'd leave them as is.

    I have an LG all in one, washer dryer combo in one appliance. We had no hookups available for my washer and gas dryer so I donated them to Goodwill and purchased the energy efficient LG because the plumbing and electrical and gas work to hookup our former appliances was outrageous ($6500.00). The only available space was in our average size kitchen next to the fridge. I made a two sided box with a wood top using 'L' brackets and attached doors with hinges after painting the entire 'cabinet' to match our kitchen cabinets. I covered the 'doors' with panels of beadboard using liquid nails and finishing nails, again to conform to our other cabinetry. The pulls on the doors match our kitchen cabinetry as well. The entire unit just slides over the top and sides of the washer with front facing controls and front load access.I allowed 1/2 inch clearance for top and both sides so when the appliance spins it won't be scratched by the unfinished interior wood. One caveat: purchase a 'better' grade wood. We used 3/4 inch plywood that was pre-sanded with minimal grain. This approach allowed us to obtain the charitable donation from Goodwill for both appliances, get a new energy efficient one, and save some space in the kitchen. There are many suggestions on Pinterest that might be workable for you.

    If you can install a shelf above the w/d to extend to cover the depth of the appliances, you could make a fabric skirt and attach with velcro to the painted shelf.

    I have the same problem, and since the washer is a top loader, my "solution" won't work. (This is in my rental property.) I would add countertop to the top (a kind of suspended shelf) and either fabric on rods or doors on the front. It would provide much needed additional counter space and a place for folding clothes as well.

    The first thing I thought of was a shelf over them, but then thought, what about the controls? So then I thought, why not a tall moveable table type setup...a table wide enough to cover front to back, with legs tall enough to slide over the top..I would add locking casters to make mobility easy and you could use it in various places not only in the kitchen but elsewhere for entertaining. If hiding the appliances is your goal, attach some small curtains in a coordinating fabric, that can be held back with small ties or velcro. Just my thoughts here....

    Extend the counter so it continues over the washer and dryer. That would give you more counter space either for folding clean clothes or more cooking area.
