Placemats Coasters and Cheeseboard

In 2013 I decided to make a set of laminated oak Place mats for the dining table, things didn't go quite as planned
I made four place mats out of 3/4" laminated oak, I cut them, to size, cut round corners on the bandsaw, used a 1/4" router round-over bit to take out the sharp edges, and then sanded them to 120 grit. After which I used mineral oil for a natural and food friendly finish.

The intention was to make six and coaster to match, but I got sidetracked.
To break the monotony, I then cut out a cheeseboard, unfortunately that week-end my Colombian Family, close and distant came to visit, saw the cheese / cutting board and I suddenly had a bundle of orders for Christmas presents, but not as cheese boards, instead kitchen cutting boards. I used up my stock, and never got around to making the rest of the set, until now!
Every year the four place mats are sanded down and coated in mineral oil, when it came to doing this recently, I decided that the existing mats were slightly too thick for my liking, so whilst adjusting them, I went and bought some more laminated oak, put it and the existing mats through my planer and reduced the thickness to 1/2".

The mats and coasters were done within 90 minutes, oiled, and once dry, pressed into use.

These really are simple to make, and they look expensive even though they aren't, a set would make a lovely present for someone.
