Heavy Christmas ornament display

Does anyone have a DIY idea for displaying Christmas ornaments that weigh down the branches of a tree? I'm thinking of something tall and slim, maybe in the general shape of a Christmas tree, that is attractive, inexpensive, and easy to build. The stands that stores use to display ornaments are much too expensive for me to buy.

You can possibly make a tree out of thick bamboo branches.Spray paint the branches in your color preference .get special metal ornament hooks and experiment.

For Easter, I have used branches from my yard that I placed in a clear vase filled with antique marbles. The corners where branches meet the main branch are strong enough to hold heavier ornaments. You can spray paint the branches, but I like the natural look.

I thread a nice red ribbon through mine and hang them over the curtain rod so they can be seen indoors and out. Vary the length of the ribbons and you can hang several in the same window.

As Roberta suggested above, you can hang them from the mantle, or in doorway arches ( as long as they're high enough). Depending on their shapes and sizes, simply putting them in a vase or bowl can be elegant and easy.

I finally found a 4ft wrought iron tree. I cut some evergreen branches outside and wire them to the metal branches. It is so sturdy I can hang anything I wish and still have a slight scent of the outdoors. I use ribbon to tie the ornaments.

@RayEtta Thomas Did you purchase your tree at a garden center, as Jan B. suggests?
