Spray It Pretty: The Updated Vanity #octfabflippincontest

This month, I got to participate in my first ever Fab Furniture Flipping Contest!! I was so excited, and even more excited when I learned that HomeRight was the sponsor the for "Spray it Pretty" themed contest.
For the contest, I decided to tackle this little "diamond in the rough" vanity. I loved the lines and detail on this piece, and I've been wanting to redo a vanity for a while now. I knew this piece would be the perfect candidate to Spray it Pretty. I also knew that I had a LOT of work ahead...
You can see from the pictures that this little vanity needed MAJOR prep work before anything else could happen. It had been many colors over the years, and each color was applied on top of the previous. This one wasn't for the faint of heart...I spent about two hours on a Friday night and another hour or so on Saturday morning getting this vanity prepped. I used my electric sander as much as possible, but did have to sand some areas (read: crevices) by hand.
Next came the exciting part: the spraying! I could not wait to put the HomeRight sprayer to the test! We created a make-shaft paint booth in the garage in case of overspray, I put on my handy mask, and reviewed the directions on the machine (very simple, I must say!)
After a quick sand, it was time to add some color. I opted to use a pink/lilac shade called Sherwin Williams Joyful Lilac. After seeing the bold red and blue that had once graced this vanity, I wanted this update to be light and cheerful, especially as it will make it's home in a little girl's bedroom!
I LOVE the final result. I added a little pop of polka dot on the drawers. This could be my favorite transformation yet! What a perfect addition to the room of any little girl!
