Has anyone used goof off on carpet?

A can of latex enamel was spilled on my synthetic carpet (a LOT of paint). Does anyone know if goof off is OK to use or have any suggestions to help? Can't afford to recarpet & the mess is in the entry way. HELP! Thanks :-)

I would use the goof off on a small spot first to make sure it does not pull any color out of the carpet.

I have used goof off after testing a tiny area first and it took out the paint but left the goof off smell which was really overpowering. Finally used a baking soda based carpet freshener and let it sit on the area for a day. Did the trick. Vacuumed it up.

Is it still wet? If it is get a large wet vac and pour the water (large amounts) on it let it soak in a bit and vacuum it out. Latex thins out with the water and the vac removes it. Do this many, many, times and you will see it fading out. I spilled a gallon can over on my daughters cream carpet and a friend who use to do disaster clean-ups came in and did this for us. It takes quite a lot of water and time but it does work. Our spill area was about two foot square. If it is a smaller area use vinegar. I always keep a shaker jar of vinegar handy to wipe up latex spills and spatters when painting.

Thank you Susan, but it is quite dry. I'll file that info away in case it happens again though.

Thank you so much, Becky. The smell will far be easier to live with than the cost of replacing my whole house carpeting! Appreciate the baking soda tip as well! Have a great day.
