Halloween Potion Bottles

I've always wanted to make some really cool old looking potion bottles to add to my Halloween decorations. When I saw these awesome bottles for sale on our local virtual garage sale website, I knew they would be perfect and I jumped at the chance.
I adore how these turned out. They add that mystical and spooky old world feel I was looking for.
Here's how the bottles started. The three big guys in the back were purchased for $10 on my local virtual garage sale website. I love their unique shapes. The other four smaller bottles were found at the dollar store.
I had just enough black spray paint left to get the job done.
Next, I went on the google machine and printed out some free potion bottle labels. I chose these ones since they were all different sizes and shapes.
I wanted these bottles to look really old, so I knew I would have to age the paper. To "age" paper, I simply add some instant coffee to some hot tap water (it doesn't have to be boiled, just hot) to a shallow casserole dish, and soak it for a minute or two. Then, I take it out of the dish, and let it dry on some wax paper.
Once dried, I just cut out the labels I wanted to use and applied them to the bottles with mod podge.
I love when a project comes together exactly as planned.
