Using a kit to paint a countertop.

Question

We need to replace our countertops in our kitchen but because we are having to replace our roof right now, we cannot afford granite or some other solid surface countertop. We have seen those kits in the big box stores that have the special paint for countertops. We are wondering if any of you have experience with this sort of thing.

Hi, Marilyn. I used a kit from Giani Granite almost 3 years ago on my kitchen countertops. I went from mauve-ish laminate to a granite look and have gotten so many compliments. I was excited after I got the primer on! I am so pleased with the results and it's holding up great. I used the last of the primer and top coat along with some acrylic paints and did my bathroom countertop last March. Turned out great, too. I ordered my kit online but I have since seen these in bigger Wal-Marts in a few colors. Also, I think they're sold in some paint stores. Check out the website and they have a facebook page.
