mine is 10 years old and every year this stalk comes out and orange flowers appear. It gets wider and wider with age!
I have one that is similar the common name on the tag was desert rose.
In Florida at least the plant commonly known as desert rose is Adenium obesum.

We have always called them kolanches. It gets bigger every year and does have pink or yellow flowers.

Did a search on both Paddle Plant & Desert Rose... I'd now say the one I bought was mismarked... it definitely looks like a Paddle Plant.
I have one, also ~ love it!! I have a lot of succulents on my front porch walkway. Trying to get them to take over the two beds on either side. We have so much drought in Texas lately that it seemed the best idea. That and the fact that I am infatuated with succulents!!!! lol

It's not a jade, it is a kalanchoe thyrsiflora "flapjack". I have one too.
Paddle plant--I have two and just love them.
I think it might be a Jade plant or related to that family.
