Rustic Wood Scrap Ornaments

Who is ready for Christmas?! Well, truth be told, I am not quite ready either...but I am getting a bit of a jump start on my holidays, starting with making these adorable Rustic Wood Scrap Ornaments. This is a fun way to personalize your tree and use up some of those wood scraps from past projects. This is a quickie guide to making these - be sure to visit the blog post for more details. ornaments
These ornaments can be any size - I literally just used left over pieces of 1 x 6 pine boards. Most of them are about 2 1/2" tall.
Supplies: wood scraps (about 6" x 2 1/2") or you can substitute pre-made wood plaques found at craft/hobby stores; wood stain or paint; stencil (or your own handwriting); paint pen, wire or ribbon, drill.
Quick as that, you have rustic wood ornaments to hand from your tree! Make them your own and get crafting! Grab ALL of the details and instruction on the blog post!

I love this idea because (1) you can dress them up or down as much as you'd like (think how cute a larger one would be wrapped in twinkle lights on the front door!); (2) you can use up lots of scrap stuff, especially your wood pieces that might not be usable for much else; (3) -maybe this should be (1) (a) - you can style them to any décor by changing the finish, letter style or hanger; (4) they don't need much heavy duty wood-working skills, I think anyone can manage a drill even if it's only the non-electric (old fashioned) kind; (5) using stuff already around the house means they are very frugal... I'm sure I could think of 20 more things. Oh, oh, oh, I just thought of wrapping them in holiday paper and using bold black letters...just for a little different kind of thing. Dang girl, I love this <as I run to the basement looking for wood leftovers>.

@Jean Great ideas. This idea actually sprung from larger signs that I have been making and selling for years. I love all of your ideas! I just made some with photos of my kids and added a little sparkle!

Oh,no! I didn't even think of glitter and rhinestones...lol And as I was checking the basement I remembered the barn, where one whole room is wood scraps - not little ones but I can fix that! Thank you for this great idea!!
