Make a Lighted Autumn Hurricane

How to make your garlands and lights "fill" a glass hurricane.
I filled this huge hurricane glass with autumn garlands and lights. The problem was they kept falling down to the bottom. Here is my DIY solution!
I cut a dowel the same height as the hurricane glass then wrapped it in autumn leaf print paper. In this case a Dollar Store napkin. I hot glued here and there and wrapped the paper diagonally from end to end.
I twined a Dollar Store garland and a string of mini lights together, then used florist wire to attach them the full length of the dowel. Hold the dowel upright while doing this to get the garland and lights evenly distributed.
Then just slide your hurricane glass over your wrapped dowel and plug the lights in! The dowel disappears inside the garland and lights and the bulk of the leaves holds the decorated dowel upright. Win win!
I just LOVE the way this came out! I'm thinking I'll do the same thing for Christmas but with silver and gold garlands and ornaments! Use this simple dowel trick wherever you want a "pillar" of lights and garlands. It's easy and it works!
