I want know how I can make a door like the one in this one

Z on Nov 05, 2015It's hard to say for sure. My guess, because of the type of handle and that it looks wide like an entry door, is that it probably has a hollow core with thick veneer over it.Helpful Reply

PhilCo on Nov 06, 2015I agree with Becky, this is going to be a hollow door, it will be a rough wooden interior frame probably using 1" x 1" timber, and a block of timber 1" thick placed where you want the handle. Your existing door probably has a paper honeycomb core to give it strength, but you can get away without this by putting more wooden strips within the frame. Then use 3mm furniture grade plywood, especially sold for making doors, cut it roughly to size, stick it to the frame using contact adhesive, then trim to the frame, and sand the outside. For the frame, just use rough timber, plane/sand the surface on either side, facing the door, there are plenty of YT videos that will show you how, and match it to your door when finished with trim. It's certainly not easy, but it is doable! an easier option would be to buy a ready made plywood door unfinished, and frame, then adjust to size, again there are plenty of YT videos that show you how.Helpful Reply

Anthony Gruttadauro on Nov 14, 2015It appears to be a standard door. If you're looking to have the door be an interior door, use a hollow core door. If it's going to be an entrance door, it must be a solid core door. The other piece to the visual is that it "appears" the handle and lock set were raised about 6-8 inches higher than your standard door set.Helpful Reply

Mar1826323 on Nov 15, 2015From what I gathered from the picture....it looks like a piece of plywood ( mahogany, birch ash) was applied over the original door as it looks like the door overlaps the opening a bit . You could attach the ply with construction adhesive. Use caulking gun.Helpful Reply
