Wood Slice Wreath

Almost a year ago I picked up these little packages of wood slices - they were on clearance at a local bed and bath type store (of all places) and I think I paid $5 for 4 jars of them. I put them all in a mason jar and debated (almost daily) what to do with them - I wanted it to be something I loved because I didn't know if I would ever find anymore of these little guys.

Finally, inspiration struck. I joined a wreath hop with some other talented Canadian bloggers (you can see mroe of them at and I decided to try a more rustic look this time. I am usually one who loves bright and bold colors, so this was an exercise in restraint for me!

The supply list is short - all I used was a wooden embroidery hoop, a hot glue gun. some ribbon, and of course, my jar of mini wood slices.

I'm really happy with how it came out. I developped a great system for laying the slices so that they overlapped just perfectly to create ballance and hide any parts of the hoop from showing through between the edges of the slices. It's safe to say I'm in love with it, and even though it isn't bold, it's still beautiful!
