Garage Conversion / Remodel - Studio Apartment Space

I converted my single car garage which was being used as my shop space into a living studio space for my daughter whom had just returned home to live.

Good-bye shop!

Mulling over the remodel design.

Inside wall detail. The drywall had to come down.

Insulation and windows added.

Entertainment and shelving built-in structure.

French doors added.

My daughter added her finishing touches and furnishings. She will be sharing the kitchen and bathroom in the main part of the home.

Wall built-in details. Heated with 220V electric fireplace.

Bedroom with closet, sliding door, and heated with small electric wall heater.

I know this post is a couple years old I was wondering the size of your one car garage? I have one car garage and want to convert to bedroom and this is by far the best I have seen, amazing work you did. My garage is 16x22 I believe.

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for the kind words! The garage / studio space is 11' wide and 15' long in the front area and 11' wide x 8' long in the bedroom area. So, over all about 11' x 23'. So, with a garage size of 16 x 22, you should be doing great! Just a side note, my one regret is that I used a laminate type of flooring and I had some flooding this last year that made its way in. In hindsight, I wish I would have installed a vinyl strip floor instead...still with the wood grain look. It would have faired much better. Good luck on your project!

I love the design. I also want to convert the one car garage into a bedroom, and living space for our son who also just moved home , but want to add a little more to it. There is a half bathroom there and sink inside the garage and laundry area. Just trying to figure out how to keep it all the same . where did you put all your things in the garage? I love it !!
