Colors are more trendy but neutrals are classic. I would go with a warm neutral. Before painting go to the paint store and get some sample colors and paint them on the wall to see how they look in your home with your lighting. Look at the colors during different times of day. You can always use textiles for pops of colors.

Muted tones of taupe, gray and rust can give a room the look of fresh and warm. Just about any color goes with Golden oak as long it is the right hue. If you have a small sample of the wood that you could take to Home Depot or any paint store, they will help you choose the right color suited to the rest of your dรฉcor. Have fun!

I believe in sticking with the classics for main rooms, Living room, dining Room, Kitchen, So I'd do White, Off-white, dark brown stains (think Arts & Craftsmen shades), or Black. Yep I said black. Depending on the colors you are using in the room, one of those colors will provide a strong and classical, even iconic contrast. Think of Toile, you always have a color on white or black on white. Giving a bold statement even with a modern design.

I'm not sure if you are trying to redo your trim to a different color or figure out what colors would work with the golden oak trim you have. If you are actually painting out the trim, you can't go wrong with white. It's classic and timeless. It will freshen up any space and make it look clean and contemporary at the same time. If you are talking about what paint colors to put on your wall with the oak trim, Golden oak generally has some orange to it. So if you do a gray with a blue undertone that would work nicely (because orange/blue are complimentary to each other) and gray is a nice fresh neutral. The best thing you can do is go to your home improvement store and find some colors you love and maybe get a couple of sample jars ( about 3.00 apiece) and take them home and paint next to your trim. Look at it throughout the day and see how the light changes it. Paint will NEVER look the same in the store as it does at home. Good luck!

I like green with oak. But not a neon green or a mint..I put Sherwin Willaims Majelica Green on the walls...It is a slightly gray green color. But then I love green..and so many other colors will go with it as its a neutral. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW0013/#/0013/?s=coordinatingColors&p=PS0
