DIY Handmade Christmas Tree (for Tabletop or Floor) #Christmastree

I was looking for a unique Christmas decoration for my coffee table. At the same time, I ran across this Radio Flyer in the basement that didn't have a holiday home. As the Christmas decorations were going up, the wagon simply didn't fit anywhere.

Then it hit me ......and I did what I always do! I made a bee-line to the scrap lumber bin. And, in a couple of hours, I had a custom-sized Christmas tree that fit this little wagon perfectly. .... I used wood to build a tree.....But, anyway, here's how it came together. First, make the stand and inner frame out of a furring strip. One 8-foot strip costs about $1.00. And you need one wood screw to attach the central post from underneath the stand (about $0.05)
Next, add the Christmas tree-shaped wings on all four sides of the central stand. This piece is glued to both the central inner furring strip and a piece of quarter round on all four sides. More details, that include another series of pictures, on how this step goes together are on the blog.
After all four of the wings and the quarter round are glued to the center piece, it will look something like this (below). A crude structure, to be sure, but the paint and greenery will cover up sloppy craftmanship. So, no worries.
Next, paint all of the surfaces. I used black with a brown topcoat.
Then, starting from the bottom, wind a piece of plain garland round and round...until you reach the top. I did not use adhesive, but did twist various pieces of the garland together so that it would hold onto the frame.
Here's a look at the stand and the lower frame with the garland attached.
And lastly, place the tree on your container and spritz it with spray-on snow. Adding a loop of jute twine is also a nice touch.
The tree would also look great in a basket.
Or standing upright on a tabletop or floor.
The tree, as shown here, is approximately 27-inches long and 15-inches in diamenter. It rests on a 19-inch long wagon that is approximately 9-inches wide. One standard length of plain garland was used. I got this one on clearance for about $2.00.

It looks great as a rustic tabletop or centerpiece with a vintage flair. It would also work as a floorpiece.

Why wasn't there a picture of the finished tree on either the coffee table or in the wagon?

I love it. I'm a little bit confused. Did you want one for your coffee table?? Or is the wagon very small so it fits on your coffee table??. I have never seen one of these wagons in person. I have seen them in films, though the always seem big enough to pull behind a person. So this is my confusion. Is it a little or large wagon. Either way I absolutely love the look.
