Do you mean somebody to cut down trees on your property to give you the lumber? You might search landscaping companies at the top of the page (there are also a couple of knowledgeable Georgia landscapers who hang out here, too). They should work with tree folks they could recommend.
  • Your in part of the country that does lumber mining all over the place. There are several mills that will take the trees down for you. Look up lumber mills and they can direct you to who to call. If the trees are in good shape and big enough they will pay you for them. Smaller scrub type trees, you may need to pay them to take them away.

I've been looking for years. I have 6 large(over 40 ft tall) pines, not big enough for lumber and not the best for firewood, that have to come down and labor, liability and workman comp insurances costs are far greater than any profit that can be made from the byproduct. If you find a legit tree service who will work for lumber, please let me know Thanks, Gary
  • Another option is people who sell wood for firewood. Sometimes they will take the tree and chop it up for sale.

You can look online at some of the portable bandsaw mill sites. Wood-mizer Timber king Jonsered are a few that pop into my head. Many of these sites have links to people that perform these services. In most cases the "fee" to cut up lumber onsite will be a fraction (10% or less in many cases) of what the lumber would cost to purchase. If you are a woodworker this is an incredible deal...keep in mind however that this wood may need to seasoned or dried for some time before it is usable. the basic rule of thumb is 1 year min. per inch of thickness to air dry to your local conditions. Some folks with speed this by building a basic "solar kiln".

Depends on the trees and their condition. Also there proximity to the house. Make sure they have insurance even if your giving them the lumber and ask if they will deal with all the limbs after they are cut
