What type of plant

Roger Coston
by Roger Coston
My neighbor planted it this Spring and wasn't happy with it so he dug it up and of course I had to rescue it.
It seems to be some type of Hibiscus
Not the typical Hibiscus you usually see down here in the South

@Wayne It's not a Japanese Maple, the blooms are definitely Hibiscus looking

Before I can answer this I need to know if the flower is from that plant or am I seeing things and there are two plants?

Thanks Janet Pizaro! That's definitely it, I just looked it up. It was beautiful and loaded with blooms before he dug it up. I'm not sure if I should plant it now or winter it over and plant it next Spring

@Roger Coston There is no apparent reason for this to not make it Hibiscus are very hardy.

The Blooming plant looks like my tropical Hibiscus. They are perennials and I just love their huge blooms.

It's a beautiful plant and I love the Japanese Maple look of the leaves, I wasn't familiar with this variety

It is a Hibiscus. In cold climates it is an annual and probably why it was thrown away. Look up Hibiscus in Google, go to images and there it is. Good searching.

@Wayne To clarify that is not a tropical hibiscus it is a perennial which will come back the following year.
