Hi! Firstly, I'm sorry for your predicament. What about drawing /painting? Or I know that you can get embroidery frames that hold the fabric rigidly and needle threaders, one handed scissors etc. . Maybe have a look at them online.

I've had MS since I was 9, and have spasms in both hands, so have adapted my crochet hooks by using clay that I baked on as handles so the hooks now lie in my hand and I don't have to clutch them. I also do plastic canvas, that can be held between my knees when necessary, and the needle pulled with whatever hand is not bothering me at the time. I've had to learn to adapt to using whatever I can that is working at any given moment, because I'm sure not about to just give up. Messy? Absolutely. But I can deal with messy, because I have learned to adapt, and keep on laughing. I'm 72 now, and one month away from 73, and plan on living another 50 years so I can finish all the projects I have in my head -- if I can remember them. Good luck hon, I've seen one handed people in my building doing things I can't even contemplate trying, so I know it just takes the will power for you to find the way.

I am sorry to hear you had a stroke. Adult colouring books would be good, or you can try painting

Rubber stamping to make cards, calendars, journals. You can purchase blank greeting cards etc... Place something heavy on the corners to hold them down and stamp away. You can also embellish the cards (gluing buttons etc...) and painting or color pencil the details.

I was thinking along the lines as Laurie with scrapbooking. If you have family pictures sorting them and then doing themed scrapbooking or just dedicate a scrapbook to interesting tidbits or trivia, local news items. You tend to forget things and if you scrapped local news or whatever interests you, you would have something to go back and look at. Hmm, why am I not doing that? lol

Hi, I hope you are well. I too had a very debilitating stroke. However, I have not let it stop me from doing things that I want to do. From driving to shopping, to doing laundry; I do it all just a bit slower. There are so many crafts that you might want to try. I am partial to woodburning and making floral wreaths. I also make beautiful sun catchers and do a little cake baking. I am also a poet and author. I get many of my ideas from Hometalk.com, where I am a team member and Etsy.com. There are so many beautiful and rewarding ideas out there just waiting for you and I hope that you find them. Peace be unto you.

Thank you, Ms. Evie. Since my post, I have learned to do lots of things; beautiful door wreaths, centerpieces, stenciling, mosaics, and many other things. I now realize that at the time I wrote that post, I was limited only by my imagination. There are times when I have to use different techniques but I still get the job done. Again, thank you for your kind response and I wish you well. Peace be unto you.
