A Few Christmas Trees Over the Years...
Just thought I would share a few of the Christmas trees I've decorated over the years. Although traditions of using the same ornaments year after year are great, I get bored with that & like to change it up......
The current 2015 tree is done mostly in red, white, & green ornaments with accent penguin ornaments mixed in, & a penguin topper. (the penguin ornaments & topper came from Pier 1, the rest are random ornaments from wherever I picked them up at.. In the center you can see a close up of some of the ornaments & my little helper Miley. On the right side is a 36" Mark Roberts "Wishes Fairy" flying above the living room spreading his sparkly magic!
The tree in these pictures was decorated with "Willow Tree" angels along with all clear, & shiny silver ornaments for a very elegant & sparkly effect. The angel topper on the tree although it looks like a "Willow Tree" ornament actually came from Lowes.
This tree was in a bedroom & featured hand painted "Hamilton Collection" Fairy ornaments, ( They are the pear shaped ones, very expensive & I've only used them once!!! Don't go to that expense if you change tree decor frequently like I do!) All other ornaments were clear, or purple with lots of crystal/clear garland draped on the tree, with a purple & gold angel/fairy topper.
Red, gold, & green tree. This tree featured red & gold hand blown ornaments, along with standard balls in burgundy, caramel, gold, & olive, crystal & gold garlands & snowflakes along with a Santa topper. My decoration supervisor in the right picture our beloved Dandy Lion. RIP...
This tree all started with the nutcracker king of hearts pictured on the right. I found it at Pier 1 & decided he was worthy of having a tree decorated based on him. This tree features accents of 14" gold nutcrackers, (found at Family Dollar store) accented with red, gold, black, & silver ornaments with a mad hatter type top hat as the topper. Don't ask me why, I had the hat it was the right colors & I used it! LOL........
Peppermint & Chocolate tree. I had to get a bit creative with this tree, it features pink iced cupcakes ( cupcakes were dog toys bought at Pets Mart) with added pink glitter over the icing, & red glitter on the cherries. There was glitter in every nook & cranny of the house for years after that! The chocolate lollipops I got at Dollar General if I remember correctly in the toy section. (they had wooden sticks, but I removed those, drilled holes in them & inserted peppermint stick ornaments to replace the regular wooden sticks, & added a pink striped bow.) This tree also had red, brown, & pink ornaments.
Last but not least & generally everyone's favorite...... The "Toy Story" tree! Everyone seems to love this tree, young & old alike! Of course it features..... what else, "Toy Story" toys, & a few other favorite toys I have!!! These are large full size toys! (not kiddie meal toys well a few are but that's beside the point) Although I'm supposed to be a full fledged adult, I'm just a Big Kid at Heart, & I LOVE Toys! So yes some of these toys I already had, some I found in garage sales, & a few I got off ebay... Of course there is Woody, Mr. Potato, Rex, Slinky Dog, RC, with Buzz taking center stage as the topper, along with various other toys! Along with the toys are extra large ornaments, (found at Home Depot, Big Lots & anywhere else I could find them) a beaded peppermint garland, along with single strand individual garlands made with red wooden beads, & children's wooden blocks that spell out our names. (I had to buy several sets of blocks to be able to spell all the names, but would do it again! In order to string the blocks, I drilled holes in the center of each one & used fishing line to string them together along with the red wooden beads. The red wooden beads are the standard garlands you can usually find at Michael's or Hobby Lobby.) Hope you enjoyed this small tour of some of my Christmas trees over the years.
