I wanted to create an inexpensive way to decorate my mantel this Christmas, so I created these "gifts" using items from the thrift store!

I started with these empty picture frames from the thrift store- even cheaper because they didn't come with a glass pane.
And then I checked out the linens section at the thrift store- specifically, the area of napkins, placemats, and hand towels. Perfect- lots of holiday options!
To create a "gift", I opened up a napkin and placed my empty frame on top of it and carefully folded up the edges.

With my staple gun, I carefully (and safely) stapled the sides of napkin to the back of the frame, pulling the fabric taut as I went along.
I attached the fabric to the back of the frame and trimmed off the excess. When I flipped it over, it was nice and smooth, like a canvas.

Then, I added strips of ribbon and a matching pom-pom bow. Looks like a gorgeous Christmas present, doesn't it?

And I made a pom-pom bow to hot-glue to the center. Ta-da!! Looks ready to open, doesn't it?
Merry Christmas and happy decorating!
