We have a large living room and want to cover the old linoleum floor..It does have some cuts in it where I assume they had put carpet down and cut thru the carpet and messed up the floor...I need it done cheap and hopefully easy.Carpet is a no no cause we have cats.

What type of sub floor is under this? If you have a regular plywood sub floor I would go with ceramic or porcelain tile. If the lino comes up easy, take it out if not you could install some 1/4" backer right over the top. Screwing it down about every 6 to 8 inches. The tile is then set on this. I have down this a number of time with great results. Tile will be super easy to keep clean and will last for decades.
