The previous owners of our home covered a large patio with carpet. We have since removed the carpet and are left with a

  • There are scrapers that you can rent that will help remove the glue. Also chemicals will soften the stuff so it can be removed. A recent post talked about using a paint remover. While I do not suggest that as those chemicals can be dangerous to use it is one way to do it. Also click on this link you will have plenty of ideas on how to do this.

What material is you patio? Concrete? you could rent a 16 or 17" floor buff. These come with a few different pads/ sander type attachments.

I feel for you.. a neighbor of mine spent a whole summer getting it off of a back porch 3 X 3 section.. hopefully for you newer and easier ways have been developed in the last 10 yrs.

Check with your Home Improvement Store (paint section) They can recommend stuff to help remove the glue. Also you might find that heat, like hot water or a heater blowing across it, may soften the glue enough for you to get it to the point that you can refinish the patio to your taste. It is not going to be easy. But your Home Improvement store will be able to steer you in the right direction.
