For the December a group of home decor and DIY bloggers teamed up with Cutting Edge Stencils to incorporate their designs into holiday-themed decor. For my project, I created a rustic, elegant stencilled table runner with a birch tree and bird motif!
To begin with, I cut my runner using a rotary cutter and cutting mat. This made measuring and cutting SO much easier! Once the felt was cut to my desired length and width (you can make yours to your table's specs), I blanket-stitched around the edge with white embroidery floss.
Once I had finished blanket-stitching (which took a LONG time - that'a a lot of felt!), I stencilled the white birch trees onto the runner using a stencilling brush (flat-bristled and round) and painter's tape (to secure the stencil). Make sure to protect your work surface! I used acrylic paint for stencilling.

Just love it. Birch is my favorite!! Looks elegantly rustic to me with the brass accents and white dishes and the natural of the pine cones.
