I want to use my son's t-shirts to make him a gift

My son wrestled his whole childhood and through high school. He was one of the best in the pacific northwest. He also went to college on a wrestling scholarship and became a national champion. Wrestling was very important to him and is a huge part of his life. I want to find some way to use his wrestling t-shirts and make him something out them so that he can have them.

I had a cousin cut the logo/lettered/image parts of her sons tshirts into squares and made a quilt out of them. He's now in his 30s and uses it in his man cave, carefully displayed across the back of his sofa.

Heatherlynn, When my mom passed away, my daughter and I went through her clothes and picked out some sweatshirts that she wore all the time. We bought material and we planned on putting together a quilt, maybe twin sized. Andrea was very close to her mamaw and this will be a great memory to keep forever. I really don't think it would be hard at all. Good luck!!

I have no idea what to suggest except just check with him to make sure he wants to use his shirts for your projects. He may treasure them to the point your changing them would be most upsetting. I say this because my son will wear certain tshirts until I want to tear them off his body and burn them! HA!

There are sites that will make shirts into quilted blankets. You could also make a couple into pillows but make sure it's ok with him to use the shirts!

I was going to say make them into a quilt. Decide how big you want your T-shirt blocks to be and cut them square using a rotary and quilt mat. (I think that's what their called). Find a fabric 100% cotton that matches, wash it because it will shink. Have you ever stripped quilted? Determine how many inches you want between your T-shirts. Allow for 1/4" seams, so if you want four inches in between you'd cut four and a half in strips. You can work width or length wise. I'm trying how to explain it, but I'm having a hard time without actually doing it. The technique is easy as long as everything is line up, so you'd have to be careful not to stretch the T-shirt blocks. Go on-line under strip quilting. Sew the batting to the wrong side of your top. I forgot about the under neath fabic, but it you sew right sides together leaving an opening for turning. Don't forget to cut the corners and in your outside seam so it lays nice. Turn it right side out and blind stitch the closing. You can "tie" the top and bottoms by using embroidery floss, 6 strands. I don't know if you embriodery or not, but each quilt should be dated and signed by the giver or quilter. Sorry this is so long. Imagine it I added the instructions on how to strip quilt. I like the pillow idea, too. Good luck.

I had my Christening dress professionally framed in a box frame and am very happy with the way I chose to preserve it. It's a real keepsake as my two brothers and niece were also christened in the same dress. Some day my niece will fall heir to it.

My mom made a blanket (used a flannel sheet for backing) from my granddaughters Running T shifts. She loved it and took it to runs and other events to sit on wrap-up in to stay warm.

A quilt. You can use a stabilizer for T-shirts, so the end don't curl while you are trying to put all the squares together. Also, use blanket binding to finish the top and bottom layers together.
